Hi, I’m Meg!
You may be feeling stuck and unmotivated or “wired” and overwhelmed. Perhaps you swing from one to the other like an exhausting ride you can’t get off. One moment you're fine, and the next, an unshakable weight pulls you down. These feelings can chip away at your confidence and create pressure to “fix” yourself–often only deepening the cycle. Over time, that pressure can build into anxiety, burnout, or a sense of numbness and avoidance.
Whether you feel resilient or not, odds are you’ve overcome a lot to be here. In doing so, maybe you’ve adopted a lot of techniques that helped you in your past but are no longer working the way they used to. Or maybe you’ve known you’ve needed the space to process but never found the “right time.”
You deserve to live a life that is authentically you–-whether you know who that is or not. Using a strengths and values-based approach, I aim to make therapy a space for you to explore, work through feelings, and build skills to help manage stressors with more ease. We are all products of our environment, and our context is important. Understanding this context, our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors can help us find better ways to cope, better ways to relate, and better ways to live.
As a therapist, I incorporate elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and take a humanistic approach. This means I believe in taking a holistic view of human growth, the inherent goodness of people, and the power of self-discovery. Therapy can serve as an uncomfortable but freeing mirror to yourself. In our work together, you can expect to move through discomfort by working to understand and accept those *not so easy parts* of yourself and your experience more fully. In my office we will help identify patterns, thoughts, and behaviors in a way that is active, meaning that we won’t just sit in self-discovery, we will incorporate tools that promote the positive change and healing you crave.
A little bit about me, I am currently a 3rd year Human Development counseling student at Vanderbilt University. Here, I’ve spent the past 2 years working with children and adolescents across contexts in a school counseling office. Following my undergraduate career at Santa Clara University in California, I spent time working in a homeless facility in Boise, ID and as a market researcher in Seattle, WA. These experiences sparked my interest in helping others navigate transitions and life decisions when I eventually moved back to my hometown, Nashville, to pursue a career in counseling. Outside the office you will probably find me hiking, exploring Nashville through coffee shops, relaxing with friends, finding a concert, or trying out a new artistic endeavor.
I look forward to working together on your journey of self-discovery, authenticity, and healing.
