Abigail McConnell

Therapist Intern

Have you found yourself feeling stuck? Maybe you've experienced a loss, a shift in a relationship, or a life transition that has left you feeling uncertain about who you are or where to go next. Perhaps you're feeling anxious, overwhelmed, lonely, or simply unlike yourself. Whatever brought you here today, I'm so glad you're here.

Life is full of twists and turns; some expected, and many of them not. It can feel overwhelming to navigate them alone. Here's the good news: you don't have to face life’s challenges all by yourself. I believe one of the most beautiful parts of being human is our ability to connect with and lean on one another. My hope is that this is a warm, collaborative, and healing space where you can come exactly as you are. Together, we can make sense of your experiences, build on your strengths, and work toward creating a life that feels more grounded, meaningful, and authentic.

Hi, I'm Abby, and I'm honored to walk alongside you in your counseling journey. Whether you're coming to therapy for the first time or looking for a new clinician to return to counseling with, it is a privilege to partner with you. I support adolescents and adults who are navigating change, grief, anxiety, relationship challenges, and everyday life stressors with understanding, compassion, and curiosity.

My approach is relational and collaborative in nature. I believe you are the expert on your own life and seek to honor every part of your story. Together, we'll explore the experiences, relationships, and patterns that have shaped you while developing practical tools to help you move toward the life you want to live. I integrate evidence-based approaches such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and the Healing Our Core Issues model (HOCI), while using person-centered and strengths-based techniques to tailor therapy to your unique needs and goals.

More about Abigail McConnell

I am currently completing my Master of Education in Human Development Counseling at Vanderbilt University. Over the past three years, I have spent much of my training supporting elementary and middle school students in school counseling settings. My own experiences in counseling, coupled with a love for connection and a desire to better understand the people and communities around me, pointed me toward this profession from an early age. In fact, long before I knew counseling could become a career, my best friend and I spent our childhood playing "therapy," complete with appointment books and "session notes" for our very patient families. Looking back, it's no surprise that this work became my passion.

When I'm not in the office, you'll likely find me spending time with family and friends, cheering on the Vols, reading a good book, or enjoying a walk around Nashville.

If you're considering taking the next step, I'd love the opportunity to connect. Wherever you find yourself today, you don't have to navigate it alone. It would be an honor to support you as you move toward healing, growth, and the life you want to build.
