Process Groups: The Power of Story and Connection

Many of us live inside stories that were written for us long before we had a say. We carry messages about who we must be, how we must perform, and what we deserve. When we bring awareness, curiosity, and compassion to these stories, and do that in the presence of others, we create space for healing to emerge.

What Makes Process Groups So Transformative

Exploring your story within a group is a heart-centered experience. You will start by learning how to express how you feel and go deeper into the feelings that lie beneath the surface.

In group therapy, you’ll be invited to show up as you are as a curious, imperfect, and real human. Together, we create a space where your past can be explored and your present can be experienced with greater clarity and connection.

What to expect

What to Expect in Group Therapy

During the first few sessions, the focus is on building trust and safety. Together, we create a supportive environment where openness and honesty can flourish.

As connection deepens, you may notice that some of the same relational struggles you experience outside of group begin to surface within it. This is a powerful part of the process—it allows you to explore those patterns in real time with support and insight.

How to Get the Most Out of Group Therapy

Be yourself. Healing begins where you are, not where you think you “should” be. Set intentions and reflect on what you hope to gain or explore each session, while staying open to what unfolds. Honor your pace—trust takes time. Whether you speak often or listen quietly at first, your presence matters.

Be open to feedback. If you really want to live more fully and be able to have successful relationships outside the group room, be open to receiving honest, caring feedback from others in the group. The more you allow yourself to show up authentically, the more meaningful and healing your group experience will become.

Carla has created space for me to not only know my emotional experience well but also hold the full range of emotions and even the most challenging parts of myself with utmost compassion and honesty. She has been a wise counsel, trusted resource, and safe space through the many things life, marriage, work, and parenting has thrown at me. Even as a seasoned therapist myself, when I imagine a good therapeutic response and excellent care, I imagine Carla. I couldn't possibly recommend her or her practice more.

My therapist brings both expertise and genuine care to every session. She remembers what matters to me, comes prepared, and uses creative approaches to help me understand myself in ways I never could have on my own. If you're considering therapy but feeling unsure, I can't recommend it enough. Having that consistent support—someone who's in it with you through the hard times and celebrates the wins—has been invaluable. It's one of the best investments I've ever made in myself, and I only wish I had started sooner.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I started therapy, but it has genuinely changed my life. Over the past five years, I've learned that therapy isn't just about talking through problems—it's about having someone truly invested in understanding you and helping you grow. What surprised me most was how much having a skilled, compassionate guide makes a difference.

It is impossible to name all the ways I've grown and healed in my therapeutic work with Carla Babb. Working with her for the last decade has been one of the most fundamentally enriching and life-changing experiences of my days. Her warmth, empathy, and attunement has created a launch pad for me to become more centered, honest, authentic, and ultimately more myself.
