Laura Williams, M.A., LPC-MHSP (Temp), NCC
Laura holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology (1999) and a Master of Arts degree in Mental Health Counseling (2005) from Rollins College in Orlando, Florida. Her background has involved working with clients, both in individual and group settings, who have survived trauma, deal with anxiety and/or depression, are in transitions in life (a move, death, divorce, career change, etc.), or just people who have lost themselves in the busy-ness and chaos of every day life.
I am 39 years old and have been married for 16 years. I am a mother to 3 rowdy boys (13, 11 and 7). I grew up in Florida and after meeting my husband and starting a family, we relocated to Nashville 8 years ago and have finally settled in Franklin. I have both worked and been a stay at home mom while my boys were young, been very involved in public and private school settings, and have done a bit of homeschooling too. I love to write, cook, read, garden, build, play the piano, listen to music and do anything outdoors on a beautiful day!
Therapy is not a “one size fits all” scenario. Just as each of our stories are different, we will incorporate many different therapeutic techniques. I am EMDR trained and believe this is an effective approach to uncovering the “why” behind many of our challenges. While the techniques might change, one thing will remain the same for every client…an emphasis on grace. It is vital throughout the process of healing that you can remain compassionate and forgiving toward YOURSELF. As a trauma survivor myself, I know firsthand how important this his because you are not always going to do everything right the first time or second time or maybe even the 20th time.
I believe that everyone deserves a fulfilling and joy-filled life! We all crave connection and love. However, things (trauma, fear, anxiety/depression, abuse, loss, etc.) get in the way of that and many times we feel alone, scared and hopeless. Using our therapeutic relationship as a vessel for healing, I am confident that your journey will bring you to a place where you can experience love and joy in a way you didn’t think was possible. It will also create a resilience that will enable you do deal with life’s challenges in a healthy and hopeful way. Change is not only possible but is inevitable for all those who come with desire and willingness for healing.
I would love to be a part of your story.
